Autor  Amparo Hurtado Albir

Holder of a PhD in Translation Studies from the ESIT of the Université Paris III, Amparo Hurtado Albir is a French-to-Spanish translator and professor of translation and interpreting at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). She has lectured in French-Spanish translation and Translation Studies at the ESIT, Universitat Jaume I and the UAB. She is the principal investigator in PACTE, a group that has been conducting experimental research on translation competence acquisition in written translation since 1997. She is the author of over a hundred publications on translation theory, the didactics of translation, and translation competence, notably including La notion de fidélité en traduction (1990); Enseñar a traducir (1999); Traducción y Traductología (2001; 2017, 9th ed.); Aprender a traducir del francés al español. Competencias y tareas para la iniciación a la traducción (2015); and Researching Translation Competence by PACTE Group (ed., 2017). She is also director of the Aprender a traducir series.

Paul Taylor (translator)

Master’s degree in Translation Studies from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, and translator from Spanish and Catalan into English for a living since 1999. Most of his work consists of translating and editing research articles and other academic and scientific texts.
