Georges L. Bastin
Ph.D. in Translation Studies from Université de Paris III, full Professor at the l’Université de Montréal and editor of the journal Meta. He has taught PhD courses and workshops on theory, revision, and history at various European and Latin American universities. His research interests lie in the fields of translation pedagogy and translation history. He is author of ¿Traducir o adaptar?, co-author of Iniciación a la traducción (2006) and Charting the Future of Translation History and Profession traducteur (2012), and has published in Routledge Encyclopaedia of Translation Studies, World Atlas of Translation Studies, and Handbook of Hispanic Translation Studies, and in various refereed journals. He heads the Research Group on Translation History in Latin America (www.histal.net). He is a former president of the Canadian Association for Translation Studies (2006-2010). At present, he is President of the Canadian Association of Translation Schools (ACET) and Editor of Meta, a position he has held since 2014.

Álvaro A. Echeverri Arias
Ph.D. in Translation Studies from l’Université de Montréal, where he is an associate professor. He teaches graduate courses on translation theory and translation pedagogy, undergraduate courses on documentary research, and other practical translation courses. His main research topic is the pedagogy of translation, in particular the question of how to implement learner-centered instruction in translation courses. He has contributed several book chapters about the history of translation in Latin American. In this area, his main interest is the translation of political texts at the time of independence. Professor Echeverri has developed a research interest in the translation of texts about the theory of translation. He is coeditor of Pour une interdisciplinarité réciproque: recherches actuelles en traductologie (forthcoming). He has written entries in Diccionario histórico de la Traducción en Hispanoamérica as well as several articles in refereed journals.
