Eva Samaniego Fernández
Associate Professor in English at the Spanish Distance University (UNED), where she teaches legal English, English for Criminology, English for Specific Purposes (ESP) and specialised translation in several degrees and faculties as well as in various MAs and PhD programmes. Eva Samaniego is a sworn legal translator (English/Spanish) and holds an MA in specialised translation, as well as a PhD Cum Laude in English Philology. She is a member of several government-funded research groups, as well as the author or co-author of books, handbooks and book chapters as well as articles on legal English, legal translation and the translation of metaphor.
Samaniego also teaches legal English courses for European Union judges, prosecutors, law practitioners, mediators and other law-related professions for several institutions: the Spanish Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ); the European Judicial Training Network (EJTN); the European Judicial Network (EJN); the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation (Eurojust), the Academy of European Law (ERA) and the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO).
